The GOC Green Home Tour is offered in connection with UNO Homecoming

The Tour

The 2010 Green Home Tour – Green Homecoming is an opportunity for Omaha residents to learn how to green their living environments. The event will showcase midtown-Omaha homes, and each will feature a different theme. Shuttle service to the tour homes will be available at University of Nebraska at Omaha newly built Mammel Hall.

Home Tour Passes ($5 per person)  may be purchased at the University of Nebraska at Omaha — Mammel Hall on the day of the event.

Green Homecoming Schedule of Events: Expo and Green Home Tour

7:30 – 8:45 AM Vendor Set-Up Time
9:00 AM Expo Doors Open at Mammel Hall (6708 Pine Street)
9:15 AM Kick-off and Speaker Introduction by Ron Duce

After the Tour

The USGBC Nebraska Flatwater Chapter member appreciation event will take place in conjuntion with the event this year from 1 – 5pm at Mammel Hall. For more info on this event, go to http://www.usgbcne.org/

Also following the tour, the Nebraska Solar Energy Tour will start from Mammel Hall at 1:00 PM.

Admission and Raffle

  • entrance to Expo at Mammel Hall  is free (doors open at 9:00 AM)
  • Home Tour Passes are $5 per person (includes one raffle ticket to be turned in at Green Omaha Coalition booth)
  • Home Tour Passes can be purchased at University of Nebraska at Omaha – Mammel Hall on the day of the event
  • Single raffle tickets can be purchased separately for $2 each
  • Proceeds to help fund programs and activities of the Green Omaha Coalition

The Homes

The Mammel Hall and ZNETH house will be a walking tour. Other houses will be accessed with shuttle services starting at 10 a.m., or on own if people wish to drive themselves. View a map here!Click to see Google Map of Tour

For Cyclists

If you’re a cyclist and really want to be green, we’ve mapped out some routes for you! The East route is an easier ride and the West route is more difficult (hilly). Also, when riding the West route, the cyclist can hop on the #15 at 90th and Center to bring them back to Mammel Hall.

Bill Moore

Bill Moore PictureOn Saturday October 2nd, Bill Moore will kick off the 2010 Green Homcoming event at the University of Nebraska’s newly constructed Mammel Hall.

Bill Moore is a 1969 graduate of Ambassador College, St. Albans, Hertsfordshire, England with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology, which gives him a more sociological perspective on the challenges of clean, sustainable, safe and affordable mobility for everyone.

After a career track that included a decade in the ministry and nearly as long in the airline and Internet publishing industry, Mister Moore launched the EVWorld.Com web site in 1998 and has closely followed the development of electric, hybrid and fuel cell technologies for vehicles ranging from electric bicycles and scooters to hybrid and fuel cell buses. On an average day, the online publication serves some 15,000 user sessions and distributes between 45-55,000 pages of information daily, including text, audio podcasts and streaming video. Prior to starting EV World, Moore wrote software reviews for CNET and has been published in Discover Magazine, Popular Science, Air & Space Smithsonian, and Mother Earth News. He’s been interviewed on Central China Television, the BBC and appeared on NPR’s Science Friday as a guest commentator.

EV World.com is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska and maintains correspondents on the West Coast, the UK and in Beijing, China.

Dr. Louis Pol

Dean, College of Business Administration

Louis Pol is a native of New York City and has been dean of the college since March, 2004. He has been a Peter Kiewit professor since 1993, and holds a courtesy appointment in the department of Preventive and Societal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He was associate dean of the college from 2000 until 2003. In addition, he has held faculty posts at Memphis State University, the Roy Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College, the University of Ulster at Jordanstown in Northern Ireland and the University of Calabria in Italy.

Louis is the author of six books and 70 articles and book chapters, primarily in marketing, research methods and healthcare, and is on the editorial board of four professional journals. He has conducted research and lectured in the United Kingdom, Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Argentina and Turkey.
